It’s a Rekha-special day. The veteran actress, who has been mesmerising us with her beauty and impeccable acting since 1970, turns 68 today (October 10). When discussing Rekha’s successful career spanning about 50 years, one simply cannot miss her hit songs. Rekha’s grace, mystique and outstanding dancing skills added much-needed charm to the tracks. From Salam-e-Ishq Meri Jaan (Muqaddar Ka Sikandar) to In Aankhon Ki Masti (Umrao Jaan), Rekha has pinned several numbers on the list of iconic and evergreen Bollywood music. 1-     Dil Cheez Kya Hai  – Umrao Jaan

Rekha’s elegance and on-point expression made this track a forever favourite of music lovers. Sung by Asha Bhosle and written by Shahryar, Dil Cheez Kya Hai is picturised on a courtesan from Lucknow (played by Rekha) who is widely known for her mesmerising beauty and silky voice.

2-     In Aankhon Ki Masti – Umrao Jaan

This one too occupies a spot on the playlists of many. Such is the magic of the song and the film that it established Rekha as one of the top actresses in Bollywood. It was sung by Asha Bhosle.

3-     Salam-e-Ishq Meri Jaan – Muqaddar Ka Sikandar

This Rekha-Amitabh Bachchan film gave us many iconic songs, including Salam-e-Ishq Meri Jaan. Crooned by Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar, this track is evergreen, courtesy of its music and Rekha’s dance.

4-     Pardesia – Mr. Natwarlal

Who can forget this peppy song from Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha’s film? It is one of the most popular tracks of the veteran actress. It also marked another collaboration between Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.

5-     Aaj Kal Paon Zameen Par  -Ghar

Nothing feels better than just listening to this soulful track, from Rekha and Vinod Mehra’s 1978 film, on a rainy day. Don’t you think?
